The Second Event in the Caloosa Catch & Release Tournament Series!
FORT MYERS, FL (April 8, 2008) – The largest fishing tournament in Naples, The Back Country Classic, will now have a new destination in which to reel in teams on July 25 and 26, 2008: the Port of the Islands Resort & Marina in Naples, just outside of Everglades City.
Port of the Islands Resort & Marina reflects Florida's early years and is the perfect setting for outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers, anglers, sportsmen and even those who simply want to bask in the sun poolside in an Old Florida setting. Waterways boast some of the best game fish in the state, and offer direct, unobstructed access to the Ten Thousand Islands and Gulf of Mexico.
The Back Country Classic presented by Maverick & Yamaha is the second leg in the Caloosa Tournament Series which is the largest single site, public fishing series in Florida, also including the Caloosa Catch & Release on June 5-8 at the Pink Shell Beach Resort & Spa on Fort Myers Beach (there are limited spots remaining), the Summer Slam and the Caloosa Grand Championship, all with a total purse in cash and prizes over $125,000.
Teams will compete in a full day of fishing for snook and redfish as well as a mystery fish all on a catch and release basis with up to $15,000 in cash and prizes. There will be great custom tournament gear provided to all anglers, as well as trophies to the top three teams. In addition, anglers and guests will enjoy two outstanding dinners at Angler’s Cove Restaurant & Bar and an open bar during registration.
All teams that register fish will be invited to the Caloosa Grand Championship to be held in November to compete for over $45,000 in cash and prizes including a 17’ Hewes Tailfisher powered by Yamaha with a Boatmaster Trailer.
